Aquarium Tables - Manufacture and Materials Our Aquarium Tables are manufactured using only top quality materials and components, the end result is a high end piece of furniture with a professional finish. The main carcass of the aquarium itself is constructed from individual pieces of Plexi-Glas® , these are then glued using solvent adhesives which actually break down the plastics forming a 'weld'. This method effectively makes the carcass into a single piece of plastic which is far stronger than the traditional glass and silicon method of tank manufacture. The use of Plexi-glas® in aquarium manfuacture has a number of benefits over glass; it has higher clarity and no color platen, it is lighter in weight more resilient and less fragile, also there is almost no possibility of a tank fracturing or 'bursting'. Once the tank has been been built all edges are polished to a finish. The corner housing and base or plinth are generally hand-crafted from quality seasoned solid wood, the choice of which is down to the customer. Any finish can be applied to the customers choice of wood on request. The top or surface of the table is half inch plate glass, this is widely used for furniture as it is ideally suited to the task. It is more resistant to stratching than Plexi-glas® and can take variants in hot and cold without effect. The fish will not 'shock' when the table is used as the glass top is insulated from the carcass using acrylic lifts and clear rubber absorbers. The pump, light unit and filtration system are all standard aquarium elements and are easily available at your local aquarium supplier or pet store. The table does not use any specialty or unique 'manufacturer order only' parts.
